Parklands Equestrian Centre - Aston

The practice recently completed the preparation of a Planning and Development Brief for the Parklands Equestrian Centre at Aston, close to J31 of the M1. The site lies within the Rotherham Green Belt so that any proposals must have very special circumstances to override the presumption against inappropriate development within such areas.

The equestrian business was established in 1976 and provides jobs and leisure opportunities for local people as well as a base for Mathew Sampson, one of the country's top international show jumpers.

The planning and development brief has been forwarded to the local planning aurhority and to Aston Parish Council for their information and support prior to the submission of specific applications for the different elements of the plan. We understand that the parish council generally supports the proposals and we hope to persuade the local planning authority that the iproposed extension to the indoor riding school (for the relocation of the tack shop, viewing gallery, toilets and offices), new stable complex and, eventually, a managerís house are essential to the well-being of the business and the local community.

We are working closely with Building Link Design (Architects) to produce a comprehensive programme for the further development of the site which lies within the Rotherham Green Belt.
