Netherthorpe Grange - Project

Netherthorpe Grange

PPS secured planning permission for a stone, Georgian –style house within the Aston Conservation Area in Rotherham.

The site lies adjacent to the Rotherham Green Belt and is surrounded by mature trees which are the subject of a Tree Preservation order.

The sensitivity of the location necessitated a planning brief being prepared for the architect (The Brooke Group) to ensure that the statutory requirement that development should enhance or preserve the character or the appearance of the conservation area was met.

Discussions were held with the parish council and several neighbours to seek to persuade them of the quality of the project.

Since the original submission, planning permission has been granted, on appeal, for a new access to the site and permission has also been obtained for an all-weather outdoor horse training area.

The land is managed as a farm holding and has been the subject of much tree and hedge planting. The site provides a spectacular setting for a range of animals including horses, miniature shetland ponies, sheep and kunekune pigs. The firm’s offices are based at the site.
