Jim Gale OBE

PPS Senior Partner, Jim Gale, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year's Honours list for services to the horseracing industry.

He was instrumental in establishing the Northern Racing College in Doncaster and was its Chief Executive Officer for more than 25 years. “It began life as a South Yorkshire County Council project to provide training for young people in the area that would enable them to get work in the racing industry,” said Jim.

When the South Yorkshire County Council was abolished in 1986, a charitable trust was formed to allow the college to continue. Since then, with Jim at the helm, it has grown in reputation and stature, achieving Grade 1 (Outstanding) status following an Ofsted inspection in 2006. There are only two racing training establishments like this in the country, the other being in Newmarket.
